The Road toKnockmullenAn Illustrated Map

A number of M and E flute players have visited Michael Cronnolly’s home workshop.  Several have reported this to be the best part of their visit to Ireland.  Here, we provide an illustrated map of how to get to Knockmullen View.

The motto of the Irish Department of transportation is reputed to be:

If you know where you’re going, God help you.
If you don’t, best stay home.

Given that, most visitors to the Cronnolly’s drive to Swinford (the nearest town) and call him (71-8133).  Then Michael drives in to town and leads them to his house.  But if you are up for an adventure, the information contained here should get you there on your own.  This is what you do –

  • Go to the written directions and print them out.
  • Go to the roadmap and print that out.
  • Click on the waypoint markers on the roadmap to see photos of the route.

The roadmap is a large image (600K) and will take some time to load up, so please be patient.  You can scan around on the map while you are waiting for it to print.  The area is pretty interesting, with lots of megalithic sites.

The roadmap is an image map, so when you click on the waypoint markers, photos will load up on your screen.  The best thing to do is to print these out too and use them to check your location as you drive the route marked in red on the map.

The written directions reference the numbered waypoint markers on the map, describing what you should be seeing at each point.

Now that you know where you are going, God help you!
